Learn AI

The world is rapidly evolving, and Artificial Intelligence stands at the forefront of this transformation. Recognising the immense potential of AI to address complex societal challenges, Dayforce Mauritius, Doracrea Training and Mauritius Telecom in collaboration with the Office of the President, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, the Ministry of Information Technology, Communications and Innovation together with our Flagship AI Sponsors are proud to launch "Learn-AI," a groundbreaking national project designed exclusively for Lower Six / Grade 12 level students across the Republic of Mauritius. This initiative in will be an annual event aims to ignite the passion for technology and empower our youth to think as Solution Architect for our nation's most pressing issues. It is a groundbreaking national initiative aimed at empowering our youth across Mauritius and Rodrigues to explore, innovate, and develop AI-driven solutions to address pressing societal challenges that could ultimately create tangible positive change in our communities. This competition-based training programme invites students to become changemakers using the transformative power of AI. "Learn-AI" will provide both our educators and young students with the foundational AI knowledge and practical skills through a structured training program presented by industry experts in the field. They will then apply this learning to develop innovative project proposals addressing one of the thematic areas. This competition will foster critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, preparing the youth for a future-driven skills by emerging technologies. This year we have chosen to focus on Lower-six / Grade 12 level students in registered public and private schools in Mauritius and Rodrigues.

What the Training will Cover?

The Training/ Project will cover the following components:

  • Introduction to AI Fundamentals: Covering core concepts, common algorithms, and real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence.

  • Research & Design Thinking Skills: Guiding students on how to conduct effective research, define problems, and apply design thinking methodologies for innovative solutions.

  • Ethical AI & Governance Basics: Introducing principles of responsible AI development and the importance of ethical considerations.

  • Project Development Guidance: Providing basic frameworks for conceptualizing, structuring, and presenting AI project ideas and prototypes.

  • Team Collaboration Facilitation: Encouraging effective teamwork and knowledge sharing among participants.

The ultimate goal is to empower students to confidently develop and showcase their creative AI solutions for the competition's national-level challenges.

  • Who can Participate?

All Public and Private Schools in Mauritius and Rodrigues

  • Educator / Mentor

Each Team can have ONE Educator and ONE Mentor

  • Regional Event

10 best Projects will be selected for the Regional Events [per zone] including Rodrigues

  • Grades

Lower Six / Grade 12 Level  Students

Each school can have a maximum of 3 Teams

  • National Event

10 best Projects from the Regional Events will be selected for the National event

  • Team Members

5 Participants including Team Leader accompanied by 1 Educator & Mentor​

  • Training Eligibility

Schools having at least ONE Team can participate in the Challenge

  • Awards and Certificates

Certificate of Recognition will be offered to all participants and Educators /Mentors
